Pros

  • The game reflects a certain amount of realism in the graphics, especially in how the garbage truck moves.
  • Except for the lack of in-game tutorials, the controls are not particularly difficult.

Cons

  • Bad camera angles are a nuisance in any game, even one with as few gameplay elements as Garbage Truck Simulator.
  • The lack of hints, tutorials, and clear instructions limits accessibility.
  • Picking up garbage in real life might be more fun.

Simulation games are undeniably common, and it almost seems as if one exists for everything - now including garbage trucks too, thanks to Garbage Truck Simulator. Players can do something they've probably never thought about before, cleaning out city trash cans and building their own garbage empire in this unique simulator.

Unfortunately, there are no tutorials or really any form of instructions to assist new players in getting started with their new, virtual career. This makes the beginning a bit rough, and thus less accessible to players. For example, it is impossible to begin the first mission without first owning a garbage truck. But since players don't start the game with any money, how are they supposed to get their first truck? The answer is that they're supposed to take out a loan at the city's local bank, but Garbage Truck Simulator gives absolutely no indication of that.

After the truck is obtained, players begin their first Garbage Truck Simulator mission. The controls aren't mentioned during the game itself, so players are required to either memorize them beforehand or guess once the mission starts. In addition, they are controlling three characters in total - one to drive, and two more to collect garbage. Thankfully, the controls are not particularly difficult. One character lets you toggle between characters, and the space bar is a contextual action button that covers a lot of the actions required to play the simulator all by itself. The game's main goal is to combine efficient garbage collection with efficient resource management, but it's slow and not a whole lot else happens.

The garbage truck itself moves rather realistically, and the rest of the graphics aren't too bad overall either. Some issues arise with the camera angles, however, and moving around without the garbage truck is especially bad.
